Exam Requirements
C Ped (C)
designation
Please
follow the appropriate guideline for your PAC membership status,
education and/or Work experience.
- Guideline
A
Member in good standing of the Pedorthic Association of Canada
prior to March 1, 2002 and continues to be a member in good standing
(if your membership has lapsed for any reason following
March 1, 2002 you must follow the new eligibility requirements
outlined below in B, C, D, or E)
i)
Membership:
A candidate must be a candidate or certified member in good standing
of the Pedorthic Association of Canada.
ii)
Work Experience: Candidate
must have completed 3 years (6,000 hours) employment in
pedorthics*
The experience hours must have been
completed prior to the application deadline
Only hours involving
work within the pedorthic Scope of Practice may be considered
(i.e., knee bracing and non-foot orthoses work do not qualify)
Experience must
include assessment, fabrication, dispensing, shoe fitting and
shoe modification tasks
The following
currently-held professional designations: Certified Pedorthist;
Certified Orthotist; Registered Chiropodist will be considered
equivalent to 2,000 hours pedorthic experience

B
Member in good standing of the Pedorthic Association of Canada
prior to July 31, 2006 and continues to be a member in good standing
(if your membership
has lapsed for any reason following July 31, 2006 you must follow
the new eligibility requirements outlined below in C,D,or E)
NOTE: This guideline
will only be available until the fall sitting of 2008
i)
Membership: A candidate
must be a candidate or certified member in good standing of
the Pedorthic Association of Canada.
ii)
Education: Possess
a post-secondary education from a college or university resulting
in the completion of a degree or diploma in a related
discipline such as (but not exclusively) Kin, PT,
AT, DPM, DCh, OT, RMT, RN, MD, DC, C.O., C.P. or
in an unrelated discipline.
iii)Core
Competencies: Education
must include the following core competencies or applicant must
complete course work in the following areas from a recognized
College or University
Anatomy, Biomechanics/gait analysis,
Medical conditions/diseases, Physical Assessment, Ethics
iv)
Work Experience:
If the candidate's education is considered related, the candidate
must have completed 4000 hrs (approximately
2yrs full-time) of employment in pedorthics. If the candidate's
education is considered unrelated, the candidate must have completed
6000 hrs (approximately 3yrs full-time) of
employment in pedorthics
The experience hours must have been
completed prior to the application deadline
Only hours involving work within the
pedorthic Scope of Practice may be considered (i.e., knee bracing
and non-foot orthoses work do not qualify)
Experience must include assessment,
fabrication, dispensing, shoe fitting and shoe modification tasks
The following currently-held professional
designations: Certified Pedorthist; Certified Orthotist; Registered

Related Undergraduate or Graduate
Degree
i)
Membership:
A candidate must be a candidate or certified member in good
standing of the Pedorthic Association of Canada. Memberships
must be approved and in force for a minimum of 30 days prior
to the exam application deadline
ii)
Education: Possess
a post-secondary degree in a related discipline such as (but
not exclusively) Kin, PT, AT, DPM, DCh, OT, RMT, RN, MD, DC,
C.O., C.P.
iii)Core
Competencies: Degrees
must include the following core competencies or applicant must
complete course work in the following areas from a recognized
College, University or and approved trainer of CPC
Anatomy, Biomechanics/Gait
Analysis, Medical Conditions/Diseases, Physical Assessment,
Ethics
iv)
Work Experience:
Candidate must have completed a total of 4000 hrs
(approximately 2yrs full-time) of employment in pedorthics.
A minimum of 1500 of the 4000 required hours must have
been completed under the direct supervision of a Certified Pedorthist
(Canada). The supervised hours must include:
Clinical – Minimum 380
hours
Footwear – Minimum 380
hours
Fabrication – Minimum
560 hours
The experience hours must have been
completed prior to the application deadline
Only hours involving work within
the pedorthic Scope of Practice may be considered (i.e., knee
bracing and non-foot orthoses work do not qualify)
Experience must include assessment,
fabrication, dispensing, shoe fitting and shoe modification
tasks
The following currently-held professional

Unrelated Undergraduate or Graduate Degree
NOTE:

deadline
ii)
Education: Possess

in the completion of a degree or diploma in an unrelated discipline
(not defined by B above)
iii)Core
Competencies: Education
must include the following core competencies or applicant must
complete course work in the following areas from a recognized
College, University or and approved trainer of CPC
Anatomy, Biomechanics/Gait
Analysis, Medical Conditions/Diseases, Physical Assessment, Ethics
iv)
Work Experience: Candidate
must have completed 6000 hrs (approximately
3yrs full-time) of employment in pedorthics. A minimum
of 1500 of the 6000 required hours must have been completed under
the direct supervision of a Certified Pedorthist (Canada). The

i)
Membership:
A candidate must be a candidate or certified member in good standing
of the Pedorthic Association of Canada. Memberships must be approved

Education: Diploma
in Pedorthics from the University of Western Ontario
C Ped Tech
(C) designation
Candidates must:
i)
Be a candidate member in good
standing with the Pedorthic Association of Canada
ii)
Have one year (2000 hours) of
employment in pedorthics
• The
experience hours must have been completed prior to the application
deadline.
• Only
hours involving work within the pedorthic Scope of Practice may
be considered (i.e., knee bracing and non-foot orthoses work do
not qualify).
• Experience
must include assessment, fabrication, dispensing, shoe fitting and
shoe modification tasks.
• The
following currently-held professional designations: Certified Pedorthist;
Certified Orthotist; Registered Chiropodist will be considered equivalent
to 2,000 hours pedorthic experience.
C Ped MC
designation
Eligibility Requirements:
1) Employment Experience
Candidate must have completed 5 years (10,000 hours) employment
in pedorthics. The experience hours must have been completed
prior to the application deadline. Only hours involving work within
the pedorthic Scope of Practice may be considered (i.e., knee bracing
and non-foot orthoses work do not qualify). The following currently-held
professional designations - Certified Pedorthist; Certified Orthotist;
or Registered Chiropodist - will be considered equivalent to 2,000
hours pedorthic experience.
2) Membership
A candidate must hold a Certified Member membership in good standing
in the Pedorthic Association of Canada and The College of Pedorthics
of Canada.
3) Certified Pedorthist (Canada)
Certification
A candidate must have successfully completed the examination requirements
for and currently hold status as a Certified Pedorthist (Canada).
