Diploma in Pedorthics

Western University continuing education post-graduate Diploma in Pedorthics

  • Successful completion of the Diploma in Pedorthics
  • Applicant must be a Candidate Member in good standing with the Pedorthic Association of Canada (PAC).
  • Membership must be approved and in force for a minimum of thirty days prior to the exam application deadline.
  • Please see the exam application for information regarding when new memberships must be received by PAC.

Pedorthic Apprenticeship

Please note: The College Board has passed a motion to agree to the following:

  • The apprenticeship route is now closed to new applicants, and only available as a path to certification for those who submitted a direct supervision contract to the CPC prior to December 31, 2020.
  • The last open enrollments offering of the Western required courses PEDS 6013 and 6014 will be for the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021. Space is limited and slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Registrations for these sessions are open.
  • Any apprenticeship stream student that registers with CPC between January 2020 – December 2020 without a Kin degree will be required to complete the UWO Bridging Program IN ADDITION to PEDS 6013 6014. This will only be applicable in 2020 as the apprenticeship stream will not be open to new enrollments in 2021
  • The first offering of the UWO Bridging Program will be May 2020

*NEW* Direct Supervisor Contract – Experienced Candidate and Direct Supervisor Contract – New Candidate – complete one of these contracts with your apprentice/supervisor to help the College keep track of working working relationships and apprentice progress

Please note: C. Ped (C) supervisors are required to have at least 3 years of experience as a C. Ped (C)

Successful completion of the Pedorthic Residency/Apprentice will include:

  • Completion of a university degree in either Health Science, Science, or Engineering. Those with a diploma in one of the following related health fields will also be accepted (providing they also have a recognized university degree in Chiropody/Podiatry, Chiropractic, or Orthotist).
  • Successful completion of coursework in the following areas from CPC recognized university or college:
    • Anatomy
    • Biomechanics/Gait Analysis
    • Medical Conditions/Disease
    • Physical Assessment
    • Ethics
    • Orthotic Fabrication *(PEDS6014 offered through Western University)
    • Footwear Modification *(PEDS6013 offered through Western University).
  • Practical experience 3500 hours in a pedorthic related field, including 1500 hours of on-site supervised work experience under a qualified C. Ped (C).
  • Allied health professionals (in a regulated health care field, with a minimum of two years active practice in that field) will be granted 500 hours credit towards their 1500 required hours of on-site supervised work. A letter of membership in good standing must be presented from the candidate’s relevant regulatory body.
  • Applicant must be a Candidate Member in good standing with the Pedorthic Association of Canada (PAC).
  • Membership must be approved and in force for a minimum of thirty days prior to the exam application deadline.
